Master of Arts

The Master of Arts program in English offers students advanced training in the critical analysis of literary texts. The program is designed to prepare candidates for a variety of professional careers and/or further graduate study. We offer MA degrees in English with concentrations in Literature and in Rhetoric and Composition. Master of Fine Arts

The Master of Fine Arts program in Creative Writing offers concentrations in fiction and poetry (with the opportunity to study other genres of writing such as screenwriting and creative nonfiction). The program emphasizes the craft of writing and concentrates on the student's original work. Our goal is to help MFA students to produce publishable theses and secure teaching or editing positions upon graduation.

Doctor of Philosophy

The Doctoral program is designed to produce teacher-scholars who have a good general knowledge of critical theory, literature, and composition, as well as a specialized knowledge in their field of concentration. We offer PhD degrees in English with concentrations in Literature and in Rhetoric and Composition.
